SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technical Supervisor to lead our Molecular oncology / Molecular genetic laboratory. The supervisor will oversee the day-to-day technical operations to ensure accurate and timely test results for our patients. This position requires a strong leader who can manage a team, maintain stringent quality control, and ensure continuous compliance with all regulatory standards (CLIA, NYS Department of Health and DNV).
Key responsibilities include:
Supervise daily Technical molecular lab operations, including PCR and NGS testing.
Maintain inspection readiness through QA/QC program oversight.
Train, schedule, and assess Technical lab staff to ensure competency and growth.
Lead validation and implementation of new assays and instruments.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical and operational issues.
Manage inventory, reagents, and equipment maintenance.
Collaborate with the Medical Director to uphold patient care standards.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant molecular laboratory experience post-NYS licensure, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity. Experience with NYS Lab Developed test submissions and molecular validations. Comprehensive knowledge of molecular diagnostics principles and methodologies. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with EPIC/Beaker.
