Company Overview

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is a community blood supplier for local hospitals in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. LifeSouth is committed to meeting the blood supply needs of these hospitals in each of the communities we serve by providing the highest quality blood components and services.

Each year, nearly five million Americans need a blood transfusion. To meet our responsibility, we need to collect 266,000 blood donations a year. That’s 728 donors a day. With over 30 donor centers, 37 blood mobiles and over 1,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is committed to making sure the blood is there when you or your family member is in need. We are your community blood center. The blood supply collected from our donors directly serves the needs of patients at over 100 medical facilities throughout our footprint. The blood donated here will stay in our community for local patient transfusion. Only if our local supply is met will LifeSouth share our blood resources with other communities.

There are no substitutes for blood. Patients who need blood transfusions to survive depend on volunteer donors who give the gift of life. Benefits


Health Savings Account (HSA)
If you participate in LifeSouth’s health insurance program and enroll in the HSA, LifeSouth will deposit money into your HSA personal bank account for your out-of-pocket health costs. LifeSouth’s contributions to your HSA are not taxable income. You may deposit your own funds to the HSA through tax free payroll deductions. ? LifeSouth will match 50% of your contributions up to $15 per pay period ($360 annually) ? Additionally, employees can earn $150 in wellness rewards quarterly (for three quarters) by participating in the LifeWise Wellness Program.

Paid Time Off (PTO)
LifeSouth offers a paid time off (PTO) system where employees earn hours and can request paid time off using accrued hours. PTO can be used for vacation, personal time, illness, bereavement, or time off to care for dependents. New employees accrue 6 hours of PTO per pay period. You can accrue a maximum of 200 PTO hours. If you accrue 200 PTO hours, additional accrued hours roll over to Reserved Sick Hours (RSH) which can be used for you or family member’s illness or injury.

Employee Assistance Program
Our health insurance carrier will provide all LifeSouth employees and their family members 24-hour free access to Care24, a comprehensive program of support and assistance.

Fitness
LifeSouth offers a fitness program through payroll deduction to all full-time employees and eligible spouses. LifeSouth contributes towards the annual membership fee for active employees for fitness centers offered in your area.

LifeSouth Retirement Plan
LifeSouth contributes a percentage of your annual earnings based on a vesting schedule to LifeSouth’s Retirement Plan. You are eligible after one year of service.

403(b) Tax Sheltered Annuity
LifeSouth offers a 403(b) through Fidelity. This voluntary savings program allows for tax free payroll deduction and allows you to defer income tax payments on the amount of wages sheltered. There are no employee eligibility requirements to contribute to the 403(b) and no minimum contribution is required.
