The Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) at Boston Children’s Hospital is actively recruiting a clinical chemist or clinical pathologist to join the DLM faculty as a full-time Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry. Boston Children’s Hospital is one of the largest pediatric tertiary care facilities in the United States and is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
The successful candidate will join three other clinical chemistry faculty in overseeing operation of the clinical chemistry service within the Core Laboratory, with a particular focus on decentralized testing. A PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree is required. Board certification or eligibility in Clinical Chemistry (American Board of Clinical Chemistry) or Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology) is required.
In addition to participating in clinical and administrative responsibilities, applicants should be committed to scholarly activity. This full-time position offers the candidate the opportunity to engage in translational research. The successful candidate is expected to participate in educating medical students, residents and fellows, and have an active role in our ComACC accredited training program in clinical chemistry. The position includes a faculty appointment as Instructor or Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School at a rank that is appropriate for experience and accomplishments.
The DLM is currently staffed by 11 faculty members and consists of 3 state-of-the-art pediatric clinical laboratories, collectively performing approximately 3 million clinical tests annually. The Core Laboratory is currently the most automated pediatric laboratory in the United States and includes a newly built clinical mass spectrometry laboratory measuring 3,000 square feet.
